At the Office

As a married couple, Sharon and Mark make a point to leave their personal lives out of the office, although their teenage daughter would say that her parents talk about architecture at home entirely too much.

That Dropbox was undeterred by the lack of big office spaces in Johnston Marklee's portfolio aligned the tech company with the firm's earliest clients. For Sharon and Mark, it reflects an adventurousness and a willingness to take risk.

"There's a kind of freshness about that, that certainly make our work harder," Sharon says, which requires assembling an intimate knowledge of the client and putting in the hours of research, "but it does bring a kind of open approach to see things in new ways. I think that courses through the culture of our office, and that's why it's an exciting place to be."
