Should I Become Your Treasure?
take me from my place.
In the morning without a breeze,
lift me above the forest
and drop me in the sea.
Or at dusk without a pickup truck,
drag me through the beaten path
as you have the others chosen for you.
Should I become your treasure?
You keep a distant grasp
and I am without presence in my bark.
You ask my leadership
and I become your follower.
You call on me never
and I stand always at attention.
